Restaurants in Italy

Rome and Naples have the most places, but the list leans south: Sicily alone has three in ten, from Palermo, Catania and Messina to dozens of small towns, and Calabria, Campania, Puglia and Sardinia supply most of the rest outside Lazio. Apart from one kebab shop in Turin, nothing north of Lazio and Abruzzo is listed.

Nine in ten are kebab shops or pizzerias, and some kebab shops also cook South Asian food, such as Nuova Dheli Kebab and Indian Restaurant on Piazza Garibaldi in Naples and Alì Babà Halal Kebab Bangladeshi Food in Messina. Naples adds fried snacks: Antica Pizza Fritta da Zia Esterina Sorbillo on Piazza Trieste e Trento sells fried pizza, and Decumano 31 on Via San Biagio dei Librai has the cuoppo, a paper cone of fried food, in its name. About half the pizzerias with listed hours open only from late afternoon, a third of places with known hours stay open past 1 AM on some nights, and nearly three quarters list €1–10 per person.
