Bakeries & Pastry
85 places in 24 cities.
Paris accounts for 50 of the 85 bakeries, almost all of them boulangeries, and the 17th and 12th arrondissements have the most, twenty between them. Reviews talk above all about viennoiseries, baguettes and sandwiches, but several shops have a speciality of their own: Boulangerie Idoia on Rue d'Avron is reviewed for gâteau basque, Boulangerie Dupuy on Rue Cadet for tarte tatin and Ogateau, a pâtisserie on Rue des Pyrénées, for pavlova, while Boulangerie Alexine sits on Rue Lepic in Montmartre. Beyond Paris, Amsterdam has five bakeries, most of them Turkish, such as Gaziantep Şerifoğlu on Bernard Loderstraat, and Istanbul six bakery-cafés. In Sicily and Calabria several panifici open only from late afternoon, Panificio Tisia in Syracuse from 4:30 to 9 PM, Monday to Saturday, while Pastelaria Badaró in Ílhavo, Portugal, opens at 6:30 AM, or 6 on Fridays.
