Kebab shops and pizzerias make up Rome's list in almost equal numbers, and much of the pizza is pizza al taglio — Roman pizza baked in trays and sold by the slice. In the historic centre, Pizza e Mozzarella near the Pantheon, Corner Pizza by Campo de' Fiori and Melograno on the Trevi Fountain square, which also sells gelato, are counter-service slice shops, while Da Pasquale near St Peter's Square and Pizzería Mediterránea off Via Nazionale keep daytime hours only. Many kebab shops carry Turkish names, Istanbul above all, but a few point to Syria — Kebab Siriano, DAMAS Kebab and Kebab DAMASCO — and Shawarma Wani's, a few steps from Campo de' Fiori, specialises in shawarma. Late at night, the Istanbul kebab-and-pizza shops on Via Arenula and Circonvallazione Gianicolense list hours until 5 AM, and 'O Famo Strano in San Lorenzo serves sandwiches until 3 or 4 AM. In the eastern suburbs, Via del Torraccio di Torrenova has several kebab and pizza shops along one stretch.
