Restaurants in Netherlands

The Dutch list is almost entirely Amsterdam: 100 of the 103 places, with two in Rotterdam and one in The Hague. Inside Amsterdam it splits evenly between the old centre, where döner and grill counters line Nieuwendijk, Rozengracht and the lanes off the Oudezijds canals, and the western districts, where Turkish restaurants, bakeries and cafés gather along Burgemeester de Vlugtlaan, Slotermeerlaan and Bos en Lommerweg.

The food is overwhelmingly Turkish. Besides döner there is pide at Pide Dünyasi on Postjesweg, simit at Simit Paleis across the road, lahmacun at Effendy on Rozengracht and çiğ köfte at El-Aziz Çiğköfte on Jan Evertsenstraat, while Gaziantep Şerifoğlu on Bernard Loderstraat is a Turkish bakery open from 8 AM. Reviews of Hira Döner in Rotterdam's Katendrecht and Ensar Doner & Kebab on Stationsweg in The Hague most often mention kapsalon, the Dutch tray of fries, döner meat and melted cheese. Where hours are known, many run late: Grillroom Baba on Halvemaansteeg lists 3 AM, and 4 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.
