Restaurants in Sweden

Stockholm and Malmö are missing from the Swedish list and Gothenburg has only nine places, so the weight lies in the provinces. Dalarna forms the largest cluster, from Borlänge and Falun to Mora, Orsa and Älvdalen; Gotland follows, with Visby and villages such as Lärbro, Hemse and Slite, and Öland adds Borgholm. In the far north, the Torne Valley adds Pajala, Junosuando, Korpilombolo and Övertorneå.

The formats are small-town ones: pizzerias, grill kiosks called gatukök, charcoal grills (kolgrill) and sixteen Thai takeaways, from Wan Thai takeaway vagn in Orsa to Thai Dansai in Pajala. Most places close by 9 PM; the usual price is 100–200 kronor per person. Late opening is rare: City Kebab on Norra Hamngatan in Gothenburg stays open until 4 or 5 AM, Sultan döner on Kungsportsavenyen until 6 AM at weekends, and Kebab Labbet on Södra Kyrkogatan in Visby lists 11 AM to 4 AM daily. 67:ans Grill in Tärnsjö is open around the clock, and its reviews talk about trucks and showers.
