Restaurants in Portugal

Two thirds of the Portuguese list is in Lisbon and around it, from Sintra, Amadora, Cascais and Oeiras in the west to Almada, Seixal and Setúbal across the Tagus. The rest is spread over central Portugal and the Alentejo, from Coimbra and Leiria to Beja; the north has only a few towns south of Porto, and the Algarve none.

Kebab shops dominate, many paired with pizza. The local format is the churrasqueira: nineteen places carry the word in their names, and most of those with listed hours open only in the evening, until 9 or 10 PM, some adding Sunday lunch; Churrasqueira O Forno in Setúbal, Churrasqueira Algueirão in Sintra and Churrasqueira da Lapa in Lisbon are typical. Some kebab shops also cook South Asian food, such as Bravery Cafe in Lisbon, a döner, Nepalese and Indian kitchen, and Indian Kebab Restaurant in Coimbra. Half a dozen Lisbon shops in and around Bairro Alto list hours until 2 AM, and about two thirds of all places give €5–10 per person.
