Restaurants in Istanbul

About two thirds of the Istanbul listings are on the historic peninsula, some 50 in the streets between Sirkeci and Sultanahmet: mostly restaurants, about ten of them inside hotels, serving kebabs, clay-pot testi kebab, meze and baklava. High prices go with a view — all but one of the 13 places listing ₺1,000 or more per person have terrace or rooftop seating, such as Roof Mezze 360 in the Seres Hotel and Loti Roof Lounge on Divan Yolu. Balat, up the Golden Horn, adds a few small cafés.

Nearly all the rest are across the Golden Horn in Beyoğlu — Galata, Karaköy, Cihangir and around İstiklal Caddesi — where most of the other cuisines are: Shamse on İstiklal cooks Iranian koobideh and ghormeh sabzi, The Himalayan Restaurant is Nepalese and KOALI Lounge & Dine Indonesian. Of the 117 places with listed hours, 37 stay open until 1 AM or later on some night. The Asian shore has no listings yet; the only distant outlier is Dilim Pizza in Yeşilköy.
