Breakfast & Brunch in Istanbul

Breakfast here mostly means the Turkish kahvaltı spread, and most places fall into three areas. Galata Süheyla, Federal Galata, Payidar Galata and Cafe Privato are close to the Galata Tower, which comes up often in their reviews, and all four stay open into the evening. In Cihangir, Van Kahvaltı Evi, Limon Kahvaltı Evi and Yiğit Sofram focus on breakfast itself: their reviews mention kaymak with honey, gözleme, kuymak and sucuk, and all three close by late afternoon (Yiğit Sofram also closes on Mondays). On the historic peninsula, Evin Unlu Mamulleri near Küçük Ayasofya opens at 6 AM for simit, börek and baklava, while Poiká near Sultanahmet serves only until 12:30 PM. Further out, the list reaches Balat, Yedikule and the back streets of Fatih. For a Western-style brunch, Cafe da Giovanni near Galatasaray is known for croissants, bagels and quiche, and Kahve 6 in Cihangir for its garden and vegan dishes.
