As pink noise has not been extensively studied, there is not much research yet on the link between pink noise and memory. However, a study showed that pink noise provided deep sleep and improved memory in 13 older adults. Researchers say this effect is due to how memory is processed during sleep.

What is the difference between pink noise and white noise?

The researchers say there isn’t a vast difference between white and pink noise in terms of the benefits they provide. The main difference here is how they sound.

Pink noise is white noise that produces louder and stronger bass. According to Cralle, both pink and white noise include all frequencies humans can hear (20 hertz to 20,000 hertz). However, white noise has equal power at all frequencies, while pink noise is more substantial in the lower part of the audio spectrum.

An example of white noise is old televisions’ constant, unchanging sound. Pink noise, however, is more natural and flat, like a long steady sound of rain or leaves rustling.
